Blue Moon rising, Boston, 8:28 PM EDT, Saturday, May 18, 2019 = 00:28 Universal Time, Sunday, May 19, 2019. The blue weather beacon is atop the Berkeley Building (also known as the Old John Hancock Building) located at 200 Berkeley Street. The arched green roof and illuminated arched window are atop 500 Boylston Street.

Supermoon setting over The Great Dome of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 6:12 am, Sunday, December 3, 2017. The reddening of the Moon is due to preferential scattering away of blue light by the greater path length through the atmosphere near moonset. At the river edge is the MIT Sailing Pavilion, and below the Great Dome is the MIT Main Library. The Moon was 99.8% full, its elevation was 2.5 degrees, moonset was 6:30 am, and sunrise was 6:56 am.
